Stray's Prayer

Dear God, please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair.
My body is aching, it's so racked with pain,
and dear God I pray, as I run in the rain.
That someone will love me and give me a home,
a warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.

My last owner tied me all day in the yard
Sometimes with no water, and god that was hard.
So I chewed my leash, and God I ran away.
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now God, I'm tired and hungry and cold,
and I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.

They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones,
while I run the streets just looking for bones!
I'm not really bad, God, please help if you can,
or I have become just a "Victim of Man!"
I'm wormy dear God and I'm ridden with fleas,
and all that I want is an Owner to please!

If you find one for me God, I'll try to be good,
and I won't chew their shoes, and I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, protect them and try to obey....
when they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!
I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
cause I'm so afraid God, that I'm gonna die.
And I've got so much love and devotion to give,
that I should be given a new chance to Live!
So dear God, please answer my prayer,
and send me someone who will REALLY care..

That is, Dear God, if YOU'RE REALLY there!

Always wear clean underwear!!!!

My dad spotted this dog on the highway. Well someone surely helped her wear her underwear. Couldnt quiet spot the brand that she prefers wearing! ........well, keep guessing coz she sure knows what she's doing!

In Memorium.........miss u KEMPY!!

KEMPY.........A dog that changed my life forever. She was magical, intelligent, beautiful and most of all, as faithful as she could be. She died a mysterious death. We tried to save her but she decided to give in after fighting real hard. She lays buried in front of my house. Even years afterwards, people in and around the locality cant stop talking about her and her stories.
We miss her a lot!!

'Puppy'

Puppy! well you'd say she looks like a 'mother'.....not a puppy!!
Well thats what we always called her. In fact my mother started calling her by that name coz we were still thinking of a nice name for her!
Not too long ago she was this really cute puppy that literally grew up in my compound. Neither she, her mother and four other siblings, would ever let us get close to them. She is now a mother of 6 healthy puppies and delivered all of them under a storm water drain close to home. One of my neighbour took all of them into her garden area in her compound and is currently taking good care of them anf finding homes for each of them.

KIVI

I spotted 'KIVI' a few months ago. By the way i named him 'kivi' because of his extremely large ears, and in kannada (state language of karnataka, India) 'kivi' means 'ears'!!
Kivi was well taken care of by the resort owner and I later found out that this resort owner regularly feeds stray dogs and cares for these animals.

CHIKOO !

A couple of months ago a friend of mine decided to adopt a street dog! Thanks to few people like her, she and her cousin went by to the local shelter, C.U.P.A (.......by the way, they rock!!, will tell you more about them in later posts)
They spotted a small feeble canine that seemed to be battling life. She immediately decided that it was going to be the "love of her life"! After quite a few hospital visits, heavy doses of medication and loads and loads of unconditional TLC, Chikoo is now a super duper, hyperactive girl thats currently breaking the hearts of many young canine bachelors on her street.
Heard she is currently pursuing her neighbour dog, after jumping in and out of several unstable relationships!

Hats off to her owner, she is now a confident young lady, anxious to live a full life!

am I "on the right track" ??!!

Many of these unfortunate dogs i come across while travelling literally live on the railway tracks.
At our very own cantonment station i spotted a dog nursing her rather malnourished puppies. The living conditions are extremely sad and they are at equal risk of being run over by trains here.
Wish people would do something about it. If you spot a dog or a puppy the next time, THINK!

1. How can i help these wonderful creations?
2. If not me, who can help me help them?
3. Do i have numbers to a local shelter or rescue centre?
4. Are the puppies i see, worth adopting?
5. Did someone recently ask me for a dog?
6. Can i help in anyway at all?
six simple questions.........If your still feeling helpless, maybe you can think more seriously about what you can do in the future, to help them! Lets not let them die! By neglecting them, are'nt we killing them?

Take some time to answer these very simple but important questions.

Kempa!

KEMPA a.k.a 'Skippy', 'Dippy', is the boss of the 2nd main. He dictates terms here. Be it man or animal, he decides their entry and exit on my street. With great difficulty, he mangaed to win the hearts of one and all on this rather quiet street. He eats a meal at almost every doorstep here and takes good care of the whole road and more!!!!!
Car thefts have reduced after he decided to take the 'LAW' into his own hands. We havent lost a car stereo in the last couple of years, Thanks to his efficient policing!
He is well know for his 'FIR" and police case at the local police station.... (by the way, he almost took off a lady's hand one morning, when she was trying to shoo him away with a dry stick!!!!)
THE CRIME: sleeping quietly by the side of the road.....sources say he was actually in a deep sleep, infact, dreaming!!!The lady actually walks by and decided to shoo a dog that meant no harm to her. She threatened action against residents for not supporting her lame claim. The "Police Commissioner" was her cousin it seem:):)
THE VERDICT: Police decided that Kempa was "NOT GUILTY" of the alleged crime. Thanks to a neighbour lawyer who told the lady the street dogs are far more intelligent than her.
....................and KEMPA still rules!!!!!

'Dog' on the wall

Miss "NO NAME" is one of my favourite.(for the time being lets call her 'Missy')
missy was hurt in an accident. She accidentally ran into a "Call-Centre" cab......by the way, Bangalore is full of these cabs, shuttling zombies 24X7 to to their place of work, and at times, if lucky, you'll catch the cab driver sleeping at the wheel....quite a scene, comes highly recommended!!!!!

well some neighbours of mine rescued her and we took her to the local shelter where she was operated-on, for a fractured leg and treated for a few cuts and bruises. After 3weeks she was returned to our locality. She nows 'cat-walks' the road. Thanks to a slight limp in her walk!!

Today she recognises my car horn and comes running to greet me. At times, when she's all excited, she actually talks. And believe me.......I understand her.

P.S: for all those who know me personally, "I'm not going cukoo in my upper storey"....I promise!!:):)

Mr.Scratch

I spotted Mr.Scratch at cantonment station very recently. As his name suggests, he was as usual - 'Scratching'.
He went 'scratch, scratch, scratch'! Mr. Scratch suffers from a very common skin disease that most of the stray dogs are prone to getting, in our city.
Most of the scratching is related to environmental, nutritional, parasitic, allergic and infectious problems. These cannot be neglected because it can affect both man and animal.
Enquire at your nearest pet centre or call a vet and he'll suggest ways in which you can help solve the problem.
